Johnny Appleseed spent 49 years of his life in the American wilderness planting appleseeds.  His real name was John Chapman.  He was born Sept. 26, 1774 in Massachusetts.  After 200 years, some of the trees in 6 states still bear apples.He was a kind and gentle man who wished to plant apples so no one went hungry.  His clothes were made from paper sacks and his hat was a tin pot.  His hat was used for cooking.  His favorite book was the Bible.  He was sick only once in 70 years!!!   Check a book out and read about his life.
